Ten years after the release of the horror-comedy Zombieland, the original cast are back together in this October’s Zombieland: Double Tap, including stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin, along with director Ruben Fleischer (Venom).
In a recent chat with EW, Fleischer teases that future sequels are a possibility.
"We have to see how this one’s received and if that’s something audiences would want," Fleischer told the site. "But I think we all had so much fun making this one, we’d be really lucky to get to return to Zombieland. Although, I will say, Emma [Stone] said, she thought it would be fun if we did one of these every 10 years."
He added, "I can’t imagine a better way to look forward to my future than knowing that every 10 years I get to hang out with those guys and make a movie with them again."
In the sequel, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, the Zombie slayers must face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.
Thomas Middleditch, Zoey Deutch, Avan Jogia, Luke Wilson and Rosario Dawson have also joined the cast.
Original film scribes, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, wrote the script. Gavin Polone returns as producer, while Reese and Wernick will also serve as executive producers.
