'Suspiria' Director Luca Guadagnino To Possibly Direct 'Lord Of The Flies' For Warne

Warner Bros. has been trying to get a movie adaptations of William Golding’s classic novel, Lord of the Flies, off the ground since 2017, when they reacquired the rights to the novel, and Variety reports today that they’re now talking with last year's Suspiria remake director Luca Guadagnino about potentially helming the adaptation.

"Guadagnino is in negotiations to direct," the site reports. Adding, "Guadagnino and his producing partner Marco Morabito are also in negotiations to produce. Known Universe, the production company founded by Lindsey Beer, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, is negotiations to executive produce."

The original novel follows a group of school boys stranded on a deserted island who descend into a savage social order.

When the studio reacquired all the rights a few years back, there was talk of making it a group of school girls who get stranded rather than boys. That plan has now reportedly been scrapped.

Guadagnino's adaptation is planned to stay true to the source material but with a "contemporary, ultra-kinetic feel," the site notes.
