Well Go USA had originally set Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein‘s sci-fi thriller Freaks for an August release after acquiring the film out of last year's TIFF, but we now have word of an official September 13th release date. And yes, that's a Friday the 13th!
We also have scored the brand new poster for the film from Christopher Shy, who also has lent his unique watercolor art style to Mandy, Harpoon and others.
Freaks stars Emile Hirsch, Bruce Dern, Grace Park, Amanda Crew, and Lexy Kolker, and is described as "a genre-bending psychological sci-fi thriller."
In the film, a disturbed father (Hirsch) locks his bold 7-year-old daughter (Kolker) in a house, warning her of grave dangers outside. But the mysterious Mr. Snowcone (Dern) convinces the girl to escape and join him on a quest for family, freedom, and revenge.
It was written by Lipovsky and Stein, and produced by Lipovsky, Stein, Jordan Barber, and Mitchell Waxman. Executive producers were M. Alan Stein, Rick Alyea, Philip Kim, and Elisabeth Costa de Beauregard.
