[Trailer] 'The Shallows' Writer Puts Gary Oldman On A Haunted Ship In 'Mary'

Mary Trailer Gary Oldman RLJE Films

RLJE Films has acquired the supernatural thriller Mary, starring Gary Oldman, and they’ve set the film for an October 11th theatrical and digital HD/VOD date.

The trailer was released this morning, which puts a new spin on the classic haunted house tale by setting the film on an old ship.

Mary is directed by Michael Goi, who also directed 2011’s Megan is Missing, numerous "American Horror Story" episodes and the penultimate episode of "Swamp Thing". The script was written by Anthony Jaswinski (The Shallows).

"Mary centers on a struggling family that buys an old ship at auction with the high hopes of starting a charter business, only to discover the ship’s horrifying secrets on the isolated open waters."

"David (Oldman) is a struggling blue-collar captain looking to make a better life for his family. Strangely drawn to an abandoned ship that is up for auction, David impulsively buys the boat, believing it will be his family’s ticket to happiness and prosperity. But soon after they embark on their maiden journey, strange and frightening events begin to terrorize David and his family, causing them to turn on one another and doubt their own sanity. With tensions high, the ship drifts off course, and it becomes horrifyingly clear that they are being lured to an even greater evil out at sea."

Emily Mortimer, Owen Teague, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Jennifer Esposito and Stefanie Scott also star.
