Following its World Premiere at Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival last month, Slime City and Johnny Gruesome director Gregory Lamberson's Widow’s Point will begin its film festival run this Sunday, September 22nd at Twin Tiers International Film Festival in Norwich, New York. The film is nominated for Best Horror Feature, and star Craig Sheffer (Nightbreed, "One Tree Hill") is nominated for Best Actor. Lamberson adapted and directed the film from the critically acclaimed supernatural novella by Richard and Billy Chizmar, and Tamar Lamberson produced.
Widow’s Point is also an Official Selection of Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival (Saturday, September 28th, 5:30 pm); Shawna Shea Film Festival in Southbridge, MA (Saturday, October 5th); and LUSCA Fantastic Film Festival in Puerto Rico, date TBA. Beginning November 1st, the film will screen for one week at the Screening Room in Amherst, New York. The Lambersons expect to screen their latest endeavor at additional film festivals through the end of the year.
In the film, "Down on his luck author Thomas Livingston (Sheffer) spends a weekend locked inside a haunted lighthouse as a publicity stunt for a book he is writing about the murders, suicides, and disappearances which have occurred at the mysterious location over the course of a century. As he uncovers the lighthouse’s terrifying secrets, sinister forces drive him to the brink of madness and a confrontation with cosmic horror.".
The film co-stars KateLynn E. Newberry, Dominic Luongo, Kaelin Lamberson, John Renna and Richard Satterwhite. The score was composed by John Armand Petri and Joe Rozler, with vocals by Mary Ramsey. Special make-up effects were created by Kate Sharun, with visual effects by Chris Cosgrave and John Vincent. Richard Chizmar and Erin Elizabeth Heald executive produced, with Petri, Kim Piazza, Vicki Liebowitz and Bruce Liebowitz associate producing.
Additionally, the Shawna Shea Film Festival, sponsored by the Shawna Shea Memorial Foundation, will honor Lamberson with its William C. Gerrity Award at an awards ceremony October 5th. The award is named in honor of the celebrated 1st AD/Second Unit Director/Production Manager/Producer who worked on such films as A Face in the Crowd, Klute, The French Connection, House of Dark Shadows, Sophie’s Choice, and Se7en. The award will be presented by Gerrity’s daughter, Kate Traveline.
