Documentary 'Scream, Queen! My Nightmare On Elm Street' Gets An Official Trailer

Scream, Queen! My Nightmare On Elm Street Trailer

More than thirty years after the release of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge and his departure from Hollywood, Mark Patton sets the record straight on the famously queer horror sequel in the upcoming documentary Scream, Queen! My Nightmare On Elm Street, and this week sees the release of the official trailer. Watch it below!

Here’s the official synopsis: In 1985, Mark Patton landed the lead in the hotly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster film A Nightmare on Elm Street. It was a dream come true, putting him on track to become a young Hollywood star. But instead Patton found himself facing a stark reality: he was a young, closeted gay man starring in a subversively queer film that was maligned by fans, failed at the box office, and destroyed his career. He retreated from show business and left the country, unaware of the growing reappraisal of Freddy’s Revenge and the cult status it achieved in the years following its dismissal.

"Through interviews with the cast and crew of NOES2, as well as film and queer culture luminaries like Peaches Christ, directors Roman Chimienti and Tyler Jensen are unafraid to revel in the love and fandom that has grown for the film, while also confronting the heartbreaking and challenging realities that are part of its legacy. At the center of it all is Mark Patton, a wonderfully gracious and honest man with an important story who is sure to win the hearts of all."

"Scream, Queen! serves as an essential companion piece to NOES2, allowing Mark to tell his amazing story and providing crucial context that seals its place in the pantheon of great horror films, queer or otherwise."

Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street makes its U.S. Premiere at Fantastic Fest today, September 22nd at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin.

For those attending the fest, 1984 Publishing will have special edition copies of the documentary's soundtrack on opaque pink vinyl. Limited to 350 copies (100 exclusive to 1984 Publishing), the release features artwork by Matt Ryan Tobin and contains a print by Lee Howard. Mark Patton, directors Roman Chimienti & Tyler Jensen, and composer Alexander Taylor will all be in attendance at Fantastic Fest to sign the LP.
