It was announced back in April that Stanley Kubrick's timeless classic The Shining had been restored in 4K for a screening at Cannes Film Festival. That announcement was followed by the news that the 4K restoration would be released on home video as a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Digitally on October 1st.
Today, we've learned that the restoration will also be making its way to theaters on Thursday, September 26th and Tuesday, October 1st, and in addition to seeing the film in 4K, theatergoers will also be treated to a sneak preview of Doctor Sleep!
You can check to see if your local theater is screening the film and grab your tickets via Fandango.
The 4K remastering was done using a new 4K scan of the original 35mm camera negative at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging. Filmmaker Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick’s former personal assistant Leon Vitali worked closely with the team at Warner Bros. during the mastering process.
Mike Flanagan's Doctor Sleep opens in theaters on November 8th.
