Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the main creative force behind the ever-growing Archie comics-based TV universe, which already includes "Riverdale", "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and the upcoming "Katy Keene", has another new genre series lined up with the gothic drama "The Shelley Society," as HBO Max has ordered up a pilot episode.
Deadline reports that HBO Max has ordered a pilot and an additional script for the series that's described as "a mash-up of gothic horror and teen romance featuring young Mary Shelley" and something along the lines of "a Victorian X-Files."
In the series, "Young author Mary Shelley leads a band of Romantic outlaws—among them, her lovers Percy and Lord Byron—against all manner of supernatural threats and monsters…including Frankenstein author Shelley’s own iconic Creature."
Tessa Leigh Williams and James DeWille co-created and executive produced "The Shelley Society" with Aguirre-Sacasa, who's also set to serve as showrunner.
