Adam Wingard's 'Godzilla Vs. Kong' Gets New November 2020 Release Date

Godzilla vs. Kong Pushed Back November 2020

Following the release of 2014’s Godzilla, 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, and Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters earlier this year, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment will be expanding their cinematic Monsterverse with Godzilla vs. Kong next year, and we've now learned the unfortunate news via The Wrap that the Adam Wingard-directed film will be releasing later than planned.

Godzilla vs. Kong is now scheduled to hit theaters on November 20th, 2020, over eight months later than its previously planned March 13th, 2020 release date.

"[Godzilla vs. Kong] will deliver for fans in the way they were looking for," WB’s Toby Emmerich recently stated. "It might come out later in the year, so we can deliver an A+ movie."

The epic action adventure will pit two of the greatest icons in motion picture history against one another – the fearsome Godzilla and the mighty Kong – with humanity caught in the balance.

"In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever."

The film stars Alexander Skarsgård ("Big Little Lies"), Millie Bobby Brown ("Stranger Things"), Rebecca Hall (Christine), Brian Tyree Henry ("Atlanta"), Shun Oguri ("Gintama"), Eiza González (Baby Driver), Jessica Henwick ("Iron Fist"), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), with Kyle Chandler (The Wolf of Wall Street) and Demián Bichir (The Nun).

Wingard directs from a script written by Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean). The film is being produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric McLeod, and Brian Rogers, with Kenji Okuhira, Yoshimitsu Banno, Jon Jashni and Thomas Tull serving as executive producers. Jay Ashenfelter, Jen Conroy and Tamara Kent are co-producers.
