[Trailer] Illumix Makes A "Special Delivery" With New 'Five Nights At Freddy's' AR Game

Five Nights At Freddy's AR Special Delivery

Are you ready for Freddy? What about on your mobile device?

YouTube sensation and the self-proclaimed "King of Five Nights at Freddy’s," Markiplier, released the trailer for a new mobile game in the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise, this one known as Special Delivery, on his channel this past Monday. Illumix, who have published the game, specialize in augmented reality (AR) games, and has investors such as producer/director Michael Bay behind them. That being said, this game is the only one currently listed under the “Games” section on their website.

The trailer sees Mark as a representative from Fazbear Entertainment, advertising a new “Fazbear Funtime Service” that promises “hours of fun, fun, fun, entertainment and companionship,” urging that “you can’t hide from a future of fun!” Don’t mind me, I’m just over here drafting a petition to have Markiplier play Patrick Bateman in the eventual remake of American Psycho. I mean, look at the way Mark delivers his lines in the advertisement part of the trailer. Add some Huey Lewis and the News in the background…

Following the ad, a person with a phone is searching through their house, trying to fend off the haunted animatronics that their device is interacting with. Glitch effects and static strike the screen as the would-be hero investigates, and all hell breaks loose when several of the condemned characters, namely FNAF 2’s Balloon Boy and Springtrap, start appearing outside the doors. The trailer concludes with the voice of Circus Baby from Sister Location suggesting, “if you are very, very quiet, maybe I will not find you,” before the doorbell rings and the screen cuts to black.

Between this and the Help Wanted VR title we got earlier this year, it seems as though the property has enough stopgaps in place to keep people interested. The last main series game was Pizzeria Simulator in December 2017. Between the long-promised feature film and the alleged console ports of the main series games, diehard fans of the indie smash series are waiting for 6am to strike, sitting on their hands for something new in the surprise hit authored by Scott Cawthon.

With the recent successes of AR games such as Harry Potter’s Wizarding World and Pokemon GO, it was only a matter of time before a horror title decided to take a stab at the concept. That it would be Freddy Fazbear and Co. doing so, I’m not sure anyone could have called.

Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery is available now on the Apple Store and Google Play.

Additionally, Five Nights at Freddy's 1 through 4 will be headed to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch tomorrow, November 29th for $7.99 each!
