Claude Earl Jones, a character actor who played Lt. Leslie Chapham in Brian Yuzna’s Bride of Re-Animator, passed away late last month in Claremont, California due to complications from dementia, The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this week. He was 86.
Horror fans may also be familiar with Jones from his appearances in the 1981 made for television movie Dark Night of the Scarecrow and that same year’s Evilspeak. He also had small roles in the Robert Zemeckis movies I Wanna Hold Your Hand and Used Cars.
Additionally, his acting résumé included the films Thunder and Lightning, Impulse, No Man's Land, Cherry 2000 and Miracle Mile, as well as the TV shows "Dallas", "Kojak", "Police Story", "Battlestar Galactica", "Simon & Simon", "Who's the Boss?", "21 Jump Street", "Quantum Leap", "Max Headroom" and the Griffith-starring "Matlock".
Jones survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy, his sons, Steve and Tawn; his daughter, Julie; and his stepdaughter, Beth.
