Mahal Empire's Alien Action-Horror 'Attack Of The Unknown' Has A Thrilling New Trailer

Attack of the Unknown Trailer Brandon Slagle

The brothers Mahal, Michael and Sonny, have had a strong year thus far. Their most recent film, the Seven Deadly Sins-inspired Art of the Dead (read our review), snagged two awards (Best Screenplay and Best Actor) at the Shockfest Film Festival in Las Vegas, as well as two other nominations (Best Feature Film and Best Original Score). The Indiegogo campaign for post-production funding of their upcoming zombie horrorshow Bridge of the Doomed sought out $25,000, but ended up closer to $40,000 when the dust settled.

Now, the Mahal Empire has let loose a new trailer, this one for a science fiction / alien invasion horror named Attack of the Unknown. Written and directed by Brandon Slagle (Crossbreed, House of Manson), the film sees a group of SWAT officers forced to hold down a detention center as an alien invasion rages on the exterior. Dubbed the “vampires from the sky,” the otherworldly creatures are quite literally out for blood. Underprepared and outnumbered, can the officers keep the facility and its inhabitants together while an alien Armageddon sets in?

This one looks to be more action-heavy, with the trailer showing several scenes of gunplay and spray-and-pray. Action and horror can surely coexist, and with the aliens looking disgusting and primal as they do, I’m hoping for some nice body horror to boot. Based on the track record of the producers, as well as the trailer, I have pretty high hopes for Attack of the Unknown.

The film stars Tara Reid (Alone in the Dark, Urban Legend), Richard Grieco (A Night at the Roxbury, "21 Jump Street"), Robert LaSardo (Death Race, Anarchy Parlor), Roberta Sparta (Ford v Ferrari, Age of the Dead) and Tania Fox (Puppet Master: Axis Termination).
