Following the release of the film's official trailer back in October, Columbia Pictures has today released a new red band trailer for their upcoming The Grudge sequel/reboot, which will bring the curse to theaters on January 3rd, 2020.
Reminiscent of the first IT: Chapter Two trailer, this red band trailer features a clip from the film before diving into a montage of gruesomeness that plays up the film's "R" rating.
The Nicolas Pesce-directed film follows the events after a young mother murders her family in her own house, a single mother and detective tries to investigate and solve the case. Later, she discovers the house is cursed by a vengeful ghost that dooms those who enter it with a violent death.
The Grudge stars Andrea Riseborough (Mandy), Lin Shaye (Insidious), Demian Bichir (The Nun), John Cho ("The Exorcist"), Betty Gilpin ("Glow"), Jacki Weaver and Frankie Faison.
With a screenplay by Pesce and Jeff Buhler, The Grudge is based on the film Ju-On: The Grudge, written and directed by Takashi Shimizu. The film is produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Taka Ichise and is executive produced by Nathan Kahane, Erin Westerman, Brady Fujikawa, Andrew Pfeffer, Roy Lee, Doug Davison, John Powers Middleton and Schuyler Weiss.
