"Over here, our bass player, the Duke of Spook, the Doc of Shock, The Man with No Tan, please say hello to Death himself, the Grim Reaper."
Orion has today released our first official look at Bill & Ted Face The Music in the form of a few new images via Entertainment Weekly, with the above photo giving us our first look at William Sadler‘s return as Death!
In case you didn't know, Sadler played The Grim Reaper in 1991's Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, wherein he was challenged by Bill and Ted in a multitude of games in order for the duo to escape Hell. Ultimately losing the contest, Death becomes Bill and Ted's servant and goes on to assist them in winning the Battle of the Bands against the "evil robot uses."
Another photo sees the titular characters returning to the iconic time travelling phone booth. We also get a look at Samara Weaving (Mayhem, Ready or Not) as Thea Preston, Bill’s daughter, and Brigette Lundy-Paine ("Atypical") as Billie Logan, Ted’s daughter. Scott Mescudi is pictured with Weaving and Lundy-Paine.
EW details, this third Bill & Ted film finds Winter’s Bill S. Preston Esq. and Reeves’ Ted Theodore Logan III still trying to create music for their band, Wyld Stallyns, which they learned back in 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure will inspire the utopian society of the future.
The official synopsis reads: "Following 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the stakes are higher than ever for William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and Theodore “Ted” Logan. Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends."
The third film in the franchise is directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) from a screenplay by original Bill & Ted writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.
Bill & Ted will return on April 21st, 2020.
