Following it s award-winning festival run, Gravitas Ventures has acquired worldwide rights to Nefarious from Ash Mountain Films via sales agent Cyfuno Ventures.
The home invasion horror/thriller focuses on a robbery which goes horribly wrong with a heavy emphasis on social commentary, particularly relating to economic disparity in the western world, the film features award-winning practical effects and a clever script.
In the film, "Darren, Lou, Jo and Mas live a meagre existence on the fringes of poverty. Indebted to the criminal kingpin of their social housing development, they routinely fear for their lives. On the other side of town, the already wealthy Marcus and his mentally handicapped brother Clive receive a windfall in the form of a winning lottery ticket. When their worlds collide following a botched robbery, the would-be criminals get more than they bargained for, and will be tested to their limits in a desperate attempt to survive a predator of monstrous proportions."
Nefarious stars Toby Wynn-Davies (Escape From Cannibal Farm), Nadia Lamin (Hosts) and newcomer Buck Braithwaite. Richard Rowntree directed, from a script he co-wrote with Matthew Davies (Dogged).
Ash Mountain Films said of the deal: "We’re very excited to be partnering with Gravitas on the release of our second feature film in the horror genre, and hope that it serves horror fans and beyond with a thrilling experience."
Gravitas Ventures will release Nefarious on March 17th, 2020.
