Stephen King's 'Carrie' Receiving Limited Series Adaptation At FX

Carrie Limited Series Adaptation FX

Another day. Another Stephen King adaptation.

Stephen King's classic tale of the telekinetic Carrie White could be headed to the screen once again, as a limited series adaptation of the 1974 novel is in the early stages of development at FX and MGM, Collider's Jeff Sneider reports.

This will be the third time that Carrie has made her way to the screen, with Sissy Spacek, Angela Bettis and Chloë Grace Moretz all previously playing the titular character in the 1976 original film, 2002's The Rage: Carrie 2, and the 2013 remake, respectively.

Sneider notes, "Though it’s still very early in the development process and there’s no script yet, sources say that this time around, telekinetic teen Carrie White will likely be played by either a trans performer or an actress of color rather than a cis white woman."

King's story centers on a misfit high-school girl, Carrie White, who gradually discovers that she has telekinetic powers. Repressed by a domineering, ultra-religious mother and tormented by her peers at school, her efforts to fit in lead to a dramatic confrontation during the senior prom.
