Known for creating such classics as Deep Red, Suspiria, Inferno, Phenomena, Tenebrae, and Opera, Italian maestro Dario Argento has given the horror genre some of its most beloved films, but what about his lesser known works?

With Four Flies on Grey Velvet, The Cat o' Nine Tails and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage all receiving some "definitive" Blu-ray love from various companies in recent years, it's down to pretty slim pickings when it comes to lesser known Argento films making the jump to Blu-ray, and they're about to get slimmer...

Scorpion Releasing and Ronin Flix have revealed that their bringing Argento's The Card Player, as well as his 1998 adaptation of Gaston Leroux's classic The Phantom of the Opera to Blu-ray for the first time!

In The Card Player, Dario Argento returns to classic form with this vicious thriller about a serial killer who taunts police with online video poker. But for every round the cops lose, a kidnapped girl is mutilated live via webcam. Now an Italian detective and an Irish forensic expert (Liam Cunningham) must race against time to trap the killer. The stakes are murder and the hunt is on for the psychopath known only as The Card Player.

The Card Player Blu-ray Argento Scorpion Releasing

In Phantom of the Opera, Dario Argento brings a different take to the classic tale. Mysteriously, a series of terrifying accidents and brutal murders leave a bloody trail into the subterranean caverns of the Opera house. Below the theatre stalks a man raised by creatures of the underworld. He tragically falls for the beautiful up and coming opera singer Christine (Asia Argento). He lures her into his underground lair. Will she be saved from his clutches?
