While Glenn Danzig continues to tour the country in support of his directorial debut Verotika, which is headed to Blu-ray this March via Cleopatra Entertainment, he's already wrapped filming on his sophomore feature Death Rider in the House of Vampires, a Vampire Spaghetti Western that features Devon Sawa (Idle Hands, Final Destination, The Fanatic) in the title role.
The film's official IMDb page has now been updated with more casting info, and it's been confirmed that Death Rider in the House of Vampires will also star genre legend Danny Trejo (Machete, From Dusk Till Dawn, Grindhouse, The Devil’s Rejects)! It's worth noting that Trejo has been cast in the role of Bela Latigo, an obvious nod to Bela Lugosi.
The film's cast also includes Julian Sands (Warlock, "Into the Dark") as Count Holiday, Kim Director (Book of Shadows, "NOS4A2) as Carmilla Joe, Kansas Bowling (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, B.C. Butcher) as Rider’s Dead Sister, Victor DiMattia (Cool as Ice, Dennis the Menace) as Kid Vlad, Ashley Wisdom (Verotika, Reprisal) as Mina Belle, and Yulia Klass (Beyond the Law, Alone) as Mircarla Mae.
Danzig will also have a cameo appearance as Bad Bathory. "It’s such a small part, but it was a lot of fun," he recently said of the role. "I get to get all bloody, which I love being bloody — it’s part of what I do."
"The soundtrack has been done for two years and of course it sounds almost exactly like an Ennio Morricone soundtrack," Danzig told audiences at a Verotika screening in Los Angeles last year.
He added, "In the film, everybody’s a vampire. So you don’t have to wait around to see the vampire — everybody’s a vampire. You don’t have to wait around to see blood — you’re gonna see lots of blood."
If you've yet to have the chance to see Danzig's cult sensation Verotika (read our review), you should make an effort to see it on the big screen, as more tour dates are sure to be announced early this year.
