RLJE Films has acquired the rights to the 2017 Taiwanese horror-comedy Mon Mon Mon Monsters from Shudder, and will be bringing the film to Blu-ray on February 4th, 2020!
Written, directed and co-produced by Giddens Ko (You Are the Apple of My Eye), Mon Mon Mon Monsters follows Lin Shu-wei (Yu-Kai Teng), who is unjustly accused of stealing money and assigned to do community service alongside the bullies from class. As the gang of bullies progressively accept him as one of their own, Lin partakes in their misdeeds to seek their approval. During a night out, the group stumble upon a pair of flesh-eating female ghouls and capture one of them; they begin a sadistic game, which ultimately leads to disastrous consequences.
I watched this one a few years back and definitely enjoyed my time with it, and even though it may be considered a "horror-comedy," it certainly has some very dark and unnerving scenes.
The film also stars Eugenie Liu ("Behind Your Smile"), Pei-Hsin Lin, Carolyn Chen (Attention, Love!), Yu-Kai Deng (Tree in the River), and Kent Tsai (All Because of Love).
