Female Driven Slasher 'The Furies' Brings Top Notch Gore To Home Video In March

The Furies DVD RLJE Films

One of 2019's best horror films, Tony D’Aquino‘s insanely gory, throwback slasher The Furies, premiered on Shudder back in October, and according to Amazon, it's headed to DVD on March 3rd, 2020 via RLJE Films!

If you've been a bit weary to check out any newer slasher films, given the absurd amounts of subpar releases in recent years, I can guarantee that The Furies is a fresh take on the subgenre and the rise of the "throwback." It's a no holds barred film that delivers top notch practical gore effects and multiple masked killers.

In the film, "Rebellious high school students Kayla and her best friend Maddie find themselves abducted by a sinister presence. Kayla wakes up in a box in the middle of a forest with no idea how she got there, and no idea of Maddie’s whereabouts. She soon realizes she is not alone – men in terrifying masks are stalking six other young women in the woods. As the threat of more killers closes in, Kayla races to save as many girls as she can. But when the girls turn on each other, Kayla’s killer instinct is unleashed, and she does whatever it takes to survive and seek revenge on her abductors."

The film's cast includes Airlie Dodds, Linda Ngo, Taylor Ferguson and Ebony Vagulans, with Danielle Horvat and Tom O’Sullivan.

Last year, D’Aquino stated that his main objective with the film was to capture the look and feel of the uncompromising horror films of the ‘70s and '80s. Also, in creating the eight killers in The Furies, the team drew inspiration from Halloween, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Friday the 13th, The Burning, and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
