Reports bearing the incredibly sad news that Urban Legend writer Silvio Horta had passed away poured in earlier this week, and we wanted to take a moment to pay our respects.
Horta was found dead in Miami at the age of 45, sources say the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The news of his passing was confirmed by his agent.
Best known as the creator, executive producer and writer for the hit series "Ugly Betty," which earned he and his team an Emmy award and two Golden Globes in 2007, Horta got his start in the movie business writing the aforementioned 1998 slasher film, which spawned two sequels Urban Legends: Final Cut and Urban Legends: Bloody Mary, with the former once again being written by Horta.
Horta's career in genre entertainment continued with the series "The Chronicle" and "Jake 2.0," both of which he executive produced and wrote.
Most recently, Horta wrote and produced The Curse of the Fuentes Women in 2015.
We here at Crypt Teaze extend our deepest sympathies to Silvio Horta's family, friends and fans.
