Following the massive success of Ruben Fleischer's Venom, Sony will next be bringing another Spider-Man villain to the big screen with Morbius, starring Jared Leto (Fight Club, Blade Runner 2049) in the lead role.
In the film, Leto plays the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius, a scientist who's dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
Say what you will about Leto (personally, I'm a fan), you can't deny that he is perfectly cast in this role and looks like he's takes straight out of Amazing Spider-Man #101!
Also, the trailer reveals that the film definitely shares a connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Keep your eyes peeled for some Spider-Man graffiti and one hell of a cameo!
Directed by Daniel Espinosa from a screenplay by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, as well as Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, Morbius also stars Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson.
The film is executive produced by Louise Rosner and produced by Matt Tolmach, Avi Arad, and Lucas Foster.
