Netflix Developing "The Witcher" Animated Film 'Nightmare Of The Wolf'

Netflix Witcher Nightmare of the Wolf

As we all know, Netflix’s "The Witcher," starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, has proven to be a massive success for the streaming service. But if you needed further convincing, EW reports that "The Witcher" has become the streaming giant's "biggest season 1 TV series ever," with the show being viewed 76 million member households in the first four weeks!

Capitalizing on the success of the show, The Wrap reports today that Netflix will be developing another adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, a spinoff in the form of an animated feature film!

Titled Nightmare of the Wolf, Netflix says the animated feature "expands the world of The Witcher and explores a powerful new threat facing the Continent."

The film hails from "The Witcher" showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and writer-producer Beau DeMayo, with Studio Mir, the renowned Korean animation studio behind "The Legend of Korra" and Netflix’s "Voltron: Legendary Defender," handling the film's creation.

DeMayo who wrote the first season’s third episode, titled "Betrayer Moon," and will write one of the eight episodes of Season 2. Let's hope they snag Henry Cavill or the video game's voice actor Doug Cockle to voice Geralt!
