Earlier this week saw the release of David Lynch's experimental short What Did Jack Do? on Netflix, and now StudioCanal has released the trailer for their upcoming 4K restoration of Lynch's Oscar-winning The Elephant Man.
Celebrating the 40th anniversary celebration of the extraordinary and intensely moving true story, The Elephant Man will receive both a limited theatrical run, as well as a new home video release, this March and April in the UK, respectively.
In the film, "John Merrick (John Hurt) is The Elephant Man, forced into circus sideshows and spurned by society because of the disfiguring disabilities he was born with. Rescued by a well meaning surgeon (Anthony Hopkins), he tries to escape a life of prejudice and cruelty as he tries to fit into a world ruled by Victorian sensibilities."
"Beautifully shot in black and white by the incomparable Freddie Francis, The Elephant Man is an unforgettable story of human dignity and survival."
