Ahead of the upcoming James Wan-produced live-action Mortal Kombat film that's releasing in 2021, we recently learned that Warner Bros. Animation was creating Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, an animated movie based on the klassic fighting game created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, and today sees the release of the official trailer (via IGN) for the "R" rated feature!
The film promises "strong bloody violence," but unfortunately the trailer features nary a drop of blood.
"Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge spotlights the once-in-a-generation tournament between the champions of Outworld and Earthrealm – a competition that will ultimately determine the fate of Earth and all its citizens. Lord Raiden, protector of Earthrealm, must gather the greatest fighters of his realm to defend it from the evil Shang Tsung in the battle to end all battles – Mortal Kombat!"

Scorpion’s Revenge is directed by Ethan Spaulding (Batman: Assault on Arkham, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis) from a script by Jeremy Adams ("Supernatural", Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans).
Rick Morales (Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, Batman vs. Two-Face) is producing with Jim Krieg (Batman: Gotham by Gaslight) co-producing. Sam Register is executive producer.
Ed Boon serves as creative consultant. The fight begins Spring 2020.
