The CW Orders Up Another Pilot Episode For "The Lost Boys" TV Series

Lost Boys CW New Pilot

Well, The CW certainly is determined, I'll give them that...

Last year, we learned that The CW had completed a pilot episode for a new series based on the 1987 vampire classic, The Lost Boys, only to end up scrapping it, retooling the story and recasting most of the roles for yet another attempt at getting the series off the ground. Now, Deadline reports the network has greenlighted a second attempt at a proper pilot episode.

The retooled pilot comes courtesy of Heather Mitchell ("Scandal") and Rob Thomas ("iZombie"). Marcos Siega, who helmed the pilots for CW's "The Vampire Diaries" and "Batwoman," has come on board to direct the new "Lost Boys" pilot, which was previously directed by Twilight's Catherine Hardwicke.

Back in June of last year, Medalion Rahimi (Before I Fall) and Dakota Shapiro ("The Affair"), were two actors extended to reprise their roles, with Rahimi playing Stella, who is a new version of Star, and Shapiro playing David, originally portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland. Those options have since expired, and the new pilot will recast everyone from scratch.

Here's the series synopsis, last we heard, "The Lost Boys" is set in sunny seaside Santa Carla, home to a beautiful boardwalk, all the cotton candy you can eat…and a secret underworld of vampires.

After the sudden death of their father, brothers Michael and Sam Emerson move to Santa Carla with their mother, Lucy, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers soon find themselves being drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla’s eternally beautiful and youthful undead.

Stay tuned for more updates... Or just go watch the original film. You're probably better off going with the latter.
