Netflix's 'Resident Evil' Series Rumored To Begin Production This June

Resident Evil Netflix June Production

Back in January of last year it was reported that Constantin Film, the company behind the Resident Evil films, was planning on developing a Netflix series based on Capcom's classic survival horror game franchise, and according to Redanian Intelligence, the series is expected to begin production this summer!

The site reports that the series will consist of eight one-hour episode, which will begin on-location prepping in April with South Africa serving as the main production hub. This comes from a production list, seen below.

At this this, none of this info has been confirmed by Netflix or Constantin Film, but Redanian Intelligence did do a great job with uncovering information on "The Witcher" Netflix series before it aired, and with the success of that series' transition from video game to Netflix series and the Resident Evil 3 remake just around the corner, this all makes perfect sense to us. We wouldn't be surprised to see an official announcement from Netflix and/or Constantin in the near future.

Deadline previously reported that "the plan is for the series to expand the Resident Evil universe and deepen the existing mythology. I hear the series will keep the basic premise, which also served as a setup for the movie franchise. The drama series will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus. While the project is in early stages, the series is expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including action sequences and Easter eggs."

The series is expected to be a Netflix global original. Stay tuned for more updates.
