In September, the ninth month of the calendar year, the ninth annual Cold Waves Festival will descend upon both Metro and Smart Bar in Chicago for three days of industrial decadence. The festival’s Facebook page detailed the acts taking part in this year’s festivities, as well as the breakdown for each day of the festival.
Friday will see Stabbing Westward and The Young Gods headline at Metro, with Ash Code, All Your Sisters, and Chris Connelly rounding out the line-up. At Smart Bar, Void Vision, Zoltar, and DJ Veganinblack will perform. Saturday has Front 242 and The KVB as the featured acts, with Paul Barker, Cyanotic, and Kollaps supporting. Smart Bar will get Broken Note, Hermes Pan, and DJ :EYG: for the day’s events. Sunday’s lineup is helmed by My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, with She Past Away, Actors, The Bellwether Syndicate, and Fee Lion supporting. Smart Bar will see DJ Mutilato and Friends closing out the three-day affair.
Also featured at the festival will be a Wax Trax! pop-up store, silent auctions and raffles, and a booth for Electronic Saviors, a group that puts out compilations of industrial music to raise money for various cancer-fighting charities. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to Darkest Before Dawn, a charity focused on giving resources to the service industry in Chicago, in order to combat depression and suicide.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, February 7th, at 10am CST. Single-day and three-day passes are available, with a VIP option and Smart Bar add-ons available. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to coldwaves.net.
