Jennifer Tilly Confirms She'll Appear In SYFY And Don Mancini's "Chucky" TV Series

Jennifer Tilly Joins Chucky TV Series SYFY

We learned last month that SYFY had placed a straight to series order for "Chucky", a new series based on the classic Child's Play franchise from original creator Don Mancini and Nick Antosca ("Channel Zero").

In the new series, "After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets."

"Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll's untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster."

"The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now," said Mancini.

So, not only will the series continue the original franchise's storyline, it will also dive into the past of Charles Lee Ray. And if you had any concerns about the new series not connecting to the original franchise, this next bit of news may ease your worries just a little, as Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky star Jennifer Tilly has just confirmed that she’ll have a part in the series!

Speaking with Page Six this week, Tilly stated, "I’m so excited, Chucky is very near and dear to my heart."

"Don Mancini, who created the Chucky 30 years ago is the writer on this series, so it’s the original Chucky," Tilly added, teasing her involvement. "[Mancini’s] partner is Nick Antosca, who did 'Channel Zero,' which is just a chilling anthology of horror stories, so a little bird told me that I am going to be a part of it."

I think it's safe for us to assume that Tilly will reprise the iconic role of Tiffany Valentine in the series. Last we saw her was during the rather unexpected finale of Cult of Chucky.

Produced by Universal Content Productions, the series will also be executive produced by David Kirschner (Hocus Pocus, Frailty), and Nick Antosca (Hulu’s "The Act", SYFY’s "Channel Zero") via his banner Eat the Cat, through his overall deal with the studio.

Emmy-nominated Harley Peyton ("Twin Peaks", SYFY’s "Channel Zero") will also serve as executive producer.

Production on "Chucky" begins this summer.
