And here, we thought the video for “Pussy” was too much.
Lindemann have released a wild new music video for their track “Platz Eins,” one of the stronger tracks on their equally strong second studio album, F & M (read my review). Wild is an understatement, though, as Lindemann plays a hotel clerk who is cleaning before check-in, and his job involves a couple of bodies. The shot of the bellhop wheeling a woman out is one that induces two very visceral reactions: 1) what the fuck? And 2) no, seriously, what the fuck?
It’s a bleak, borderline blackly comical look at the unfortunate reality of sex trafficking, but after a shot of an unspecified drug, the video goes from dark to nostalgic, complete with multi-instrumentalist Peter Tägtgren noodling away on a keytar. In the same scene, Till Lindemann sports a smoker’s jacket and shades, bringing the sleaze factor to a level I wasn’t sure existed until right now.
Then comes the hotel orgy.
Wow. That’s a phrase I haven’t even considered writing since my review of Notte Nuda.
The shot of Peter Tägtgren playing a small keyboard on a sex worker’s ass is one I won’t soon get out of my head, though to see some of the more explicit shots of this scene, one will have to make their way to a porn site called Visit-X and register an account there. The video descends into a Requiem for a Dream-like madness, as the music distorts and things go from titillating to torturous.
It’s a new level of weird, and considering Till Lindemann is involved in the discussion, that’s a fucking achievement.
