Back in 2018, we told you that a film adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s novel My Best Friend’s Exorcism was in the works with Happy Death Day's Christopher Landon possibly directing, and Deadline has now offered an update on the project.
It appears that Landon will only be producing the film with "Penny Dreadful" and "Killing Eve" director Damon Thomas now set to take the helm.
Thomas' other directorial efforts include episodes of Netflix and BBC's "Dracula", "Nightflyers", and "Crooked House".
Jenna Lamia ("Good Girls, "Awkward") will write the script and Quirk Books will also produce.
The site also reports that Hendrix's new novel and spiritual sequel to My Best Friend's Exorcism, titled The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires, has been acquired by Patrick Moran’s recently launched PKM Productions, with the plan being to adapt the novel into a series for Amazon.
Quirk Books will publish The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires this Spring.
