Last we heard, Jason Bateman was attached to direct 20th Century's upcoming Clue remake starring Ryan Reynolds, but Variety now reports filmmaker James Bobin will be helming the project.
In addition to 2011's The Muppets and Muppets Most Wanted, Bobin has also directed episodes of "Da Ali G Show" and "Flight of the Conchords". His other directorial credits include Alice Through the Looking Glass and Dora and the Lost City of Gold.
The film's script was penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writing duo behind Zombieland and Deadpool.
The site notes that "the cast has not been set, but 20th Century is aiming for high-profile talent to join Reynolds."
The original 1985 movie, based on the Hasbro board game, followed six guests who are anonymously invited to a strange mansion. After the host is killed, the visitors must cooperate with the staff to identify the murderer as bodies pile up. The cast included Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Kahn, Michael McKean and Eileen Brennan.
Reynolds' Maximum Effort is developing and producing Clue with Allspark Pictures, the film division of Hasbro.
