A Demon Rises in First Clip from Neil Marshall's 'The Reckoning', Arriving in February

Fear spreads like the plague.

After being acquired by RLJE Films and Shudder last month, the first official clip for The Reckoning, written and directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers, Doomsday), has made its way online.

You can check it out below, along with some new stills and poster art.

The Reckoning will be released in theaters, On Demand and Digital on February 5th, 2021 via RLJE Films, followed by a streaming premiere on Shudder.

"The Reckoning follows Grace Haverstock (Charlotte Kirk), a young widow, haunted by the recent suicide of her husband Joseph (Joe Anderson), who is falsely accused of being a witch by her jealous Landlord, Squire Pendleton (Steven Waddington), after she rejects his unwanted advances."

"Grace must endure physical persecution at the hands of England’s most ruthless witch-hunter Judge Moorcroft (Sean Pertwee) and face her own inner demons as the Devil himself starts to work his way into her mind."

Earlier this year, The Reckoning was the opening night film at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival, also the film’s world premiere. Fantasia commented that the film is a "vivid, compelling and confrontational film whose themes are frighteningly pertinent to today’s concerns," adding that "it will knock the wind out of you."

The film is executive produced by Jas Boparai and co-written by Edward Evers-Swindell and Charlotte Kirk, from a story by Antony Jones and Evers-Swindell.
