'A Nightmare on Elm Street' Franchise Star John Saxon Has Passed Away

John Saxon, an actor that many of us grew up seeing in some of our favorite horror and action films, has sadly passed away this weekend at the age of 83, his wife, Gloria, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Saxon died of pneumonia on Saturday in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Within the horror community, Saxon is probably most well known for his role as Lt. Don Thompson, Nancy's father, in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. He also appeared as himself in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare.

John Saxon’s 200+ film résumé also included horror classics such as Mario Bava’s Evil Eye, Dario Argento's Tenebrae and Bob Clark's Black Christmas.

He also starred in Enter the Dragon, alongside Bruce Lee, The Scorpion with Two Tails, Blood Beach, Hands of Steel, Death House (1988), My Mom's a Werewolf, Nightmare Beach, The Last Samurai, Hellmaster and From Dusk Till Dawn.

The beloved actor also appeared in episodes of "Night Gallery", "Monsters", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and "In the Heat of the Night".

We extend our condolences to John Saxon's friends and family as we bid farewell to another legend in the horror community.
