Pro Wrestling's "Living Dead Girl" Abadon Signs With All Elite Wrestling

Abadon Signs with AEW

Last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite saw the television debut of one of the creepiest, most unsettling wrestlers the upstart promotion has seen yet. Abadon, hailing from The Black Hills and weighing in at 1,000 lost souls, made her Dynamite debut against “The Star of the Show” Anna Jay, in a winning effort. The “Living Dead Girl” crawled her way down the ramp and into the squared circle, with commentator Excalibur calling Abadon “a horror movie come to life.” The commentary team also made mention of Abadon’s previous appearance on AEW’s YouTube series Dark, facing now-AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida during the latter’s chase for the title.

Throughout the match, several ringside wrestlers, as well as the referee for the bout, Rick Knox, displaying their shock and horror at the mannerisms and machinations of the two-time Rocky Mountain Pro Lockettes Champion, as she put Anna Jay away with a Rana DDT, driving her foe’s face into the mat before getting the three-count and the win.

Brief as it may have been, it was an impactful debut for this monster of a woman. Few horror gimmicks in professional wrestling have been pulled off playing them straight, and even fewer have been done by female wrestlers. The very existence of Abadon in the AEW women’s division, now down two of its top stars with the injuries to Kris Statlander and Dr. Britt Baker, DMD, stands to shake things up. The monstrous maiden that is Abadon may quickly find her place in the division, as well as in the contention for the AEW Women’s title, held by the woman who handed her her first loss in the promotion, Hikaru Shida.
