André Øvredal and Guillermo del Toro to Return for 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark' Sequel

If you've seen last year's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, you already know that its ending was left open for a sequel, and we've now learned that Paramount and Entertainment One are teaming up to do just that with another round of Scary Stories.

The first film pulled in over $100 million worldwide, so it comes as no surprise that a sequel is in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Guillermo del Toro, who produced and was credited as one of the writers of the first film will return to write the sequel. The first film's director André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe) is also expected to return to the director's chair.

Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman are also returning to write the screenplay. The site notes that "it is unclear whether [del Toro] will be back in his previous role of producer."

The first film was based on short stories pulled from the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books by writer Alvin Schwartz and artist Stephen Gammell.

While several iconic stories were used for the first film, there are still plenty of other tales just waiting to be adapted.
