'Blade' Brings Vampire Slaying Action to 4K Ultra HD This December [Trailer]

Arriving on 4K Ultra HD for the very first time this December is director Stephen Norrington's (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) 1998’s vampire-superhero film Blade, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have today shared a trailer for the release.

In Blade, a half-vampire, half-mortal man (Wesley Snipes) becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires.

Blade will be available on 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo Pack on December 1st for $24.99. You’ll also be able to own Blade in 4K Ultra HD via purchase from select digital retailers on the same day. Additionally, Best Buy will be offering an exclusive Steelbook version.

Bonus features include:

  • Commentary with Wesley Snipes, Stephen Dorff, David S. Goyer, Theo Van De Sande, Kirk M. Petruccelli & Peter Frankfurt

  • Isolated score with commentary by composer Mark Isham

  • Featurettes

"The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of Blade will feature Dolby Vision HDR that dramatically expands the color palette and contrast range and uses dynamic metadata to automatically optimize the picture for every screen, frame by frame. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of Blade will also feature a Dolby Atmos soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead. To experience Dolby Atmos at home, a Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver and additional speakers are required, or a Dolby Atmos-enabled soundbar. Dolby Atmos soundtracks are also fully backward compatible with traditional audio configurations and legacy home entertainment equipment."

Blade's full synopsis reads, "Awakened to consciousness - and pain - before birth by the bite of the undead vampire that kills his mother, a young boy grows into a mythical warrior bearing a blood-curse: An almost insatiable desire for blood that he must fight every moment of everyday. Blade uses his awesome power to battle the vampires led by his mortal enemy, the omnipotent vampire overlord Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff). The undead have infiltrated the corridors of power intent on conquering all mankind; now, against an army of immortals, one warrior must draw first blood."

Written by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy), Blade also stars Kris Kristofferson, N’Bushe Wright, Donal Logue, Udo Kier and Sanaa Lathan.
