A nurse and single mother who returns from a late shift on Halloween to find a maniac hiding out with a hostage in her home in For the Sake of Vicious, and today sees the release of the film's brutal red band trailer.
Co-directed by Reese Eveneshen and Gabriel Carrer, the film is being sold worldwide by Toronto-based genre label Raven Banner.
In the film, Romina (Lora Burke), an overworked nurse and single mother, returns home from her late shift on Halloween night to find Chris (Nick Smyth), a forlorn maniac, hiding out with Alan (Colin Paradine), a bruised and beaten hostage. As an unexpected wave of violent intruders descend upon the neighbourhood and lay siege to her home, the trio soon realize the only way out of the situation is to become as violent as everyone else.
For the Sake of Vicious comes from a script by Eveneshen, based on a story by Carrer. Eveneshen and Carrer produced alongside Avi Federgreen,. Executive producers include Marvin Waxman, James Fler, Michael Paszt and Andrew Thomas Hunt.
Raven Banner is also set to launch Ariel Martínez Herrera’s timely adventure Toxico at the upcoming Cannes virtual market.
The film is set during a global insomnia pandemic as two people flee the city in their mobile home and venture into an increasingly deserted landscape where it is hard to distinguish between reality and dream.
The company will also be talking up rights on a slate that includes Skull: The Mask of Anhanga, The Dead Ones, To Kill a Dragon, Penance Lane, Nail in the Coffin, and SXSW Midnighter selection Yummy.
