Broke Horror Fan Brings 'The El Duce Tapes' to VHS in November [Trailer]

Broke Horror Fan and Witter Entertainment are back at it once again with another exciting VHS release!

Officially licensed from Arrow Video, The El Duce Tapes will be available in the Witter Entertainment shop on Monday, November 2nd, 2020 at 12PM EST/9AM PST.

The El Duce Tapes arrives on VHS in a black clamshell case with artwork by Benjamin Marra. It’s limited to 50 units. Each tape includes a letter from Rodney Ascher. Stay tuned after the movie for a special feature: "Tape 2: Hollywood Reservoir" raw footage.

The 2019 documentary is comprised of vintage camcorder footage of El Duce, frontman of the notorious shock rock band The Mentors and self-styled "King of Sleaze," a legendary underground figure who once boasted he was asked to kill Kurt Cobain for $50,000.

"In the early 90s, aspiring filmmaker (and "General Hospital" co-star) Ryan Sexton lugged a giant camcorder into some of the seediest clubs and filthiest apartments in Hollywood. There he filmed hour upon hour of VHS footage of the jaw-droppingly offensive shock rock band The Mentors, focusing on their infamous lead singer, El Duce."

Almost 30 years later, the team behind The Nightmare and Room 237 uncover this dusty stockpile of long forgotten – and much unseen – footage. They begin to search for clues to piece together a picture of the man under the black executioner’s hood and what his wilfully offensive act and controversial views might tell us about 21st Century America.

"The El Duce Tapes is an outrageous expose of a rocker described on national television as a "disgusting pervert," a hugely divisive, troubled figure who was a skilled musician and relentless provocateur."

Rodney Ascher (The Nightmare, Room 237) and David Lawrence (editor of Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on The Exorcist) co-direct.
