DC Universe's Cancelled "Swamp Thing" Series Now Headed to The CW

Swamp Thing Series The CW

As you may recall back in June of last year, DC Universe pulled the plug on their "Swamp Thing" series before the first episode even aired, but the first season was at least completed and hit home video earlier this year.

We've now learned via THR that The CW has picked up the first and only season of the series to debut on both it's the linear network and the free streaming service, CW Seed.

Although, it's currently unclear when "Swamp Thing" will arrive on The CW.

"Swamp Thing” centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane. When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

Derek Mears (Friday the 13th, Predators) wore the practical effects creature suit in the series that stars Crystal ReedJennifer BealsVirginia Madsen, Ian ZieringWill Patton, Andy Bean, Kevin Durand, Henderson Wade, Jeryl Prescott and Maria Sten.

The James Wan-produces series is based on the DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson and is written by "Ash vs. Evil Dead" writer Mark Verheiden and IT co-writer Gary Dauberman.
