'Deep Blue Sea 3' Has Been Rated R and is Swimming Our Way This Summer

Deep Blue Sea Rated R July Release

Following 2018's unnecessary and lackluster direct-to-video sequel, the Deep Blue Sea franchise will be continuing this year with a third entry, which has now been rated by the MPAA.

Exhibitor Relations reports that WB Home Entertainment’s Deep Blue Sea 3 has been rated "R" for "some violence, bloody images, and language."

In the film, "Dr. Emma Collins and her team are spending their third summer on the island of Little Happy studying the effect of climate change on the great white sharks who come to the nearby nursery every year to give birth. Along with the last two inhabitants of this former fishing village, their peaceful life is disrupted when a "scientific" team led by her ex-boyfriend and marine biologist Richard show up looking for three bull sharks who we soon learn aren't just any bull sharks."

John Pogue (Quarantine 2: Terminal, The Quiet Ones) directed the film from a script by Dirk Blackman (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Outlander).

Nathaniel Buzolic, Emerson Brooks and,Bren Foster star.

According to IMDb, Deep Blue Sea 3 will be released on July 28th, 2020.
