In addition to their upcoming Blu-ray releases of Bryan Bertino's The Strangers and George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead, UK based company Second Sight Films have today announced that Neil Marshall's directorial debut, the 2002 werewolf masterpiece Dog Soldiers, is next up to receive their Limited Edition Blu-ray treatment!
The release has yet to be fully detailed but we should know more very soon, as the Limited Edition Blu-ray is expected to arrive on the market later this year.
Additionally, we've learned that Vertigo Releasing will be handling the digital distribution of the film's new 4K restoration, and have set an October 12th release in the UK. It's safe to assume the Blu-ray set will arrive around the same time.
In Dog Soldiers, "During a routine nighttime training mission in the Scottish Highlands, a small squad of British soldiers expected to rendezvous with a special ops unit instead find a bloody massacre with a sole survivor. The savage attackers of the special ops team return, and the men are rescued by Megan, a zoologist who identifies what hunts them as werewolves. Without transport or communications, the group is forced to retreat to a farmhouse to wait for the full moon to disappear at dawn."
"It’s The Howling meets Ultimate Force, with an irresistible mix of foul-mouthed squaddies taking on vicious werewolves, combined with plenty of blood and gore, and brilliantly effective action set pieces."
The film stars Kevin McKidd ("Rome", Hannibal Rising), Sean Pertwee (Soldier, Event Horizon), Emma Cleasby (Doomsday) and Liam Cunningham ("Game Of Thrones", Clash Of The Titans).
