The late '80s and early '90s saw an influx of killer doll films, including Child's Play, Dolls, Puppet Master and the straight-to-video subject of this article, 1991's Dolly Dearest, directed by Maria Lease.
Currently, the film is available on an out of print DVD, which sells for insanely high prices secondhand. Thankfully, that's about to change as Vinegar Syndrome are gearing up to give the film a brand new release!
The company recently tweeted "Dolly Dearest is on schedule for an April release" and that a new restoration is currently in progress.
In Dolly Dearest, starring Denise Crosby, Sam Bottoms and Rip Torn, an American family moves to Mexico to fabricate dolls, but their toy factory happens to be next to a Sanzian grave and the toys come into possession of an old, malicious spirit.
Stay tuned for more details.
