Don Mancini Confirms That 'Chucky' TV Series Is In Production, Slated For Fall 2021 Premiere

Given that this was announced on April Fool’s Day, I was hesitant to believe this, but it’s real and I can’t be happier.

After months of speculation, delays, and lamentation from some soreheaded fans, it has been confirmed that the long-awaited Chucky TV series is in production, and will premiere on both SYFY and USA Network this fall. After three years since the original announcement, franchise creator Don Mancini corroborated this development, on the heels of a Chucky marathon which aired on SYFY for April Fool’s Day.

The show, with a ten-episode order for season one, will feature Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, and Fiona Dourif reprising their roles from the iconic film franchise as Chucky, Tiffany, and Nica, respectively, with Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Hunter Hunter), Lexa Doig (Stargate: SG-1, Jason X), Teo Briones (Ratched, FOX’s Lethal Weapon), Bjorgvin Arnarson (The Seventh Day), Zackary Arthur (The 5th Wave, Transparent), and Alyvia Alyn Lind (The Young and the Restless) rounding out the thus-far announced cast.

By Mancini’s own confession, the film will be a return to the origins of the story, this time involving a whole new group of kids discovering the Good Guy doll with a dark secret. SYFY’s own Syfy Wire reports that the iconic doll carrying the spirit of Charles Lee Ray pops up at a yard sale, which is a great take on the secondhand curse trope we’ve seen play out many times before.

This fall, we’ll see if Chucky returns to his Martha Stewart ways, or if a new group of families to terrorize means new inventive ways to kill.
