Don Mancini's "Chucky" TV Series Gets a Teaser; Coming to Syfy and USA in 2021

Chucky TV Series Trailer Coming to Syfy USA in 2021

Earlier this year, Syfy placed a straight to series order for "Chucky", a new series based on the classic Child's Play franchise from original creator Don Mancini and Nick Antosca ("Channel Zero"), and we've learned today that the series is headed to both Syfy and USA in 2021!

The announcement was made by Mancini over on Instagram, who also shared a fun teaser video and captioned the series features "an evil too great to play on just one network." Watch it below.

In the series...

"After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll's untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster."

"The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now," Mancini previously explained.

With this TV show, our mission has been to preserve the straightforward scariness of the original film or the first couple of films, but at the same time, continue on with this ever-expanding tapestry of consistent story that we’ve spun over the course of seven movies and 30-some years," he told Syfy Wire back in May. "I think fans are really gonna love to see the new characters that we introduce into this realm and just to see how they came off of our classic characters. Not just Chucky, but some of the others that you may be hoping to see. There’s a good chance they may turn up."

Produced by Universal Content Productions, the series will also be executive produced by David Kirschner (Hocus Pocus, Frailty), and Antosca via his banner Eat the Cat.

Emmy-nominated Harley Peyton ("Twin Peaks", "Channel Zero") will also serve as executive producer.
