Emma Roberts to Executive Produce Vampire Series "First Kill" for Netflix

We've learned today that Netflix has given an 8-episode order for a new young adult vampire series that's set to be executive produced by Emma Roberts ("American Horror Story", "Scream Queen", The Blackcoat's Daughter).

Variety tells us that the one-hour television series is based on the short story of the same name by writer Victoria "V.E." Schwab. "First Kill" marks the first of Schwab's works to get a series greenlight.

"First Kill" was featured in Imprint's Vampires Never Get Old: Tales with Fresh Bite, a collection of vampiric short stories that was published back in September.

"When it’s time for teenage vampire Juliette to make her first kill so she can take her place among a powerful vampire family, she sets her sights on a new girl in town named Calliope. But much to Juliette’s surprise, Calliope is a vampire hunter, from a family of celebrated slayers. Both find that the other won’t be so easy to kill and, unfortunately, way too easy to fall for."

Schwab created the series and will serve as co-writer and executive producer. Felicia D. Henderson ("The Punisher", "Gossip Girl") will also serve as co-writer and executive producer, as well as showrunner. Roberts is executive producing alongside Karah Preiss under their Belletrist Productions banner.
