It was revealed a few years back that Fangoria and Full Moon were developing a new take on Stuart Gordon's 1995 horror film Castle Freak, and Birth.Movies.Death. today lets us know film will finally be premiering later this year!
But not too much later, as the site reports Castle Freak will world premiere at the Chattanooga Film Festival on April 16th. It'll debut in in the midnight slot, following a screening of Spring and The Endless filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's new film Synchronic.
"The story follows recently-blinded Rebecca, her boyfriend John, and their friends as they travel to Albania to manage Rebecca’s sudden inheritance of a castle from her long-lost-mother. Once there, they learn that Rebecca’s family harbored dark secrets with potentially cosmic implications. As mysterious happenings and horrific murders begin to occur, Rebecca must unravel her family’s own mysterious history before she too falls prey to the eponymous Castle Freak."
Award-winning SFX Makeup Artist Tate Steinsiek (Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, Satanic Panic) will made his feature debut directing the script written by Kathy Charles (The Kings of Maine). Italian maestro Fabio Frizzi (Zombi 2, The Beyond) returns to the Fangoria family to compose an original score for the movie.
Castle Freak stars newcomer Clair Catherine, Jake Horowitz (The Vast of Night), Chris Galust (Give Me Liberty), Kika Magalhães (The Eyes of My Mother), Emily Sweet (Syn), Elisha Pratt ("True Detective"), and Omar Brunson.
Producers include Barbara Crampton, Charles Band (producer of the original Castle Freak), and Justin Martell and Matt Manjourides (The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs)
