First Photos from CBS All Access' "The Stand" Feature Randall Flagg, Mother Abagail and More

While it may seem like our world is slowly evolving into that of Stephen King's The Stand, with many fans even comparing the fictional events of the novel to the real life events that have unfolded in recent months due to COVID-19. However timely it may be, Stephen King himself assures us that the novel's pandemic is a lot worse and we'll soon be able to see that for ourselves in CBS All Access' upcoming series adaptation.


But first, a sneak peek. Vanity Fair has shared the first photos of the limited event series, which gives us a look at Alexander Skarsgård as Randall Flagg, Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail, Owen Teague as Harold Lauder, Heather Graham as Rita Blakemoor, Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith, Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood, Amber Heard as Nadine Cross, Gordon Kyle Diez Cormier as Joe, and Nat Wolff as Lloyd Henreid.

Ther series will present an apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old other Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.


Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara, Marilyn Manson, Hamish Linklater, James Marsden, Greg Kinnear and Henry Zaga also star.


Benjamin Cavell and Taylor Elmore (“Justified”) serve as showrunners for the Josh Boone(The New Mutants) directed series.


Stephen King also recently revealed that he has rewritten the ending for the series based on his 1978 novel, which was adapted as a television film by Mick Garris in 1994.
