Just one year after their first full-length Champ du Sang, the self-professed two-headed hydra that is Vous Autres is set to release their second album Sel de Pierre. Due out on September 25th via Season of Mist Underground Activists, the six-track effort will bring together elements of shoegaze, black metal, sludge, and post-metal for what the band describes as a “shimmer of hope among the black, dark landscapes.”
“Onde,” the opening track of the album, and the second to be released following “Vesuve” last month, is a monolith of persistent machine gun kicks, low-end guitar and bass tones, and mind-melting melodies against an otherwise bleak backdrop. Even as the extended-range guitars chug and hulk along, the lead guitars create beautiful leads and motifs to brighten up the whole affair, furthering the strange, otherworldly aesthetic the music informs.
