FrightFest is Feeling 'Mean Spirited' for World Premiere of Found Footage Horror-Comedy

Earlier this week, Arrow Video added the World Premiere of director Jeff Ryan's found footage horror-comedy Mean Spirited to this year's FrightFest event in the UK, and we've been provided with some first-look images from the film.

Mean Spirited will be screened on Sunday, August 28th at 1:15pm at the Cineworld, Leicester Square in London. Tickets are available now.

In the film, "When two estranged friends reconnect, things buried deep down are bound to surface. Wannabe famous vlogger Andrew Castellano, aka "The Amazing Andy", sets off for a weekend at his former friend turned famous actor Bryce. After receiving the invitation to Bryce’s mountain cottage, Andy has decided to bury the hatchet. Unfortunately he isn't quite himself anymore..."

Mean Spirited stars Michelle Veintimilla ("Gotham", ABC’s "Big Sky"), Neville Archambault (13 Cameras, The Block Island Sound), Will Madden (Beast Beast), Daniel Rashid (Beast Beast), Will Martin (YouthMin), Maria DeCotis (Euphonia), and Charlie Pollock ("The Good Wife"), in addition to Ryan, who also co-wrote the film with Joe Adams (The AV Club), lensed by cinematographer Kenneth Wales (The Beta Test), and production design by Kelsey Hannah Walsh (Dreamkatcher).

Touted as "a thoroughly entertaining found-footage horror comedy," Mean Spirited is executive produced by FrightFest stalwart Shaked Berenson of Slaxx, Turbo Kid and Tales of Halloween fame.

The First-Names Films production is produced by Joe Adams and Owen Williams, and co-produced by Jacob Andres Padilla. Gerry Pass co-executive produced and Ryan Adams, Julia Hirsch, Charlotte Williams, and Charlie Phoenix associate produced.

Ryan’s last film, Mass Hysteria, another horror-comedy about the Salem Witch Trials, was acquired by Shudder in 2020. His first feature YouthMin: A Mockumentary about a narcissistic youth pastor is now streaming on Peacock. He’s slated to shoot his fourth film, Mooch, a crime-comedy, the true story of Ryan’s childhood moochiness, in late 2022.
